Shasta Daisy Shaggy Gem Leucanthemum x superbum is an evergreen perennial with white flowers with shaggy frizzled petals.
Shasta daisies have always been excellent. They are tough plants in my garden with sturdy stems. This variety blooms simultaneously with my daylilies and can be used as cut flowers in spring and summer.
The first flower flushes appear in late spring and last throughout the summer, especially if you deadhead each flower after they finish flowering to encourage more blooms.
New plants in all climates need watering to get established. Once established, however, watering can be kept to a minimum, even in hot climates.
After the cold winter frosts have begun to keep future weeds at bay, I prune this plant low to the ground and apply a fresh layer of mulch, such as well rotted manure.
